Off-grid Home Energy Solar System

Picture
Completely independent

Some people only think about a totally self sustained and independent, off-the grid electrical system that guards against the unreliability of the rural electric grids and natural or social disasters, but this system is a reality.

We installed 40, 315-watt Solar World modules to create a 12.6 kW solar electric system that powers a modern, energy-efficient mid-sized home. To more effectively capture the sun's energy, the photovoltaic panels are installed on adjustable ground-mount racks. The array's footings sit in precisely aligned shafts bored 2 ft. wide by 6 ft. deep into the earth.

The system design, developed in collaboration with a battery specialist and installer, includes a bank of 24 deep-cycle batteries (6,000 lbs.), charge controllers,  inverters, and assorted system components.
